### Idea

Mad Props was born after admiring endless cars at different meets or on the street. We wanted to have a way to give props to the owner. Carrying the tools to write handwritten notes was too cumbersome. In the rainy pacific northwest, where we are based, those paper notes wouldn’t last long in most of our weather.

### Community

We have seen endless social networks for car enthusiasts fail because they’ve never understood the core of the car community: it lives in the real world. Mad Props is rooted in real life and physical contact, but provides discoverability and permanence through a digital profile.

### Positivity

Positivity and lifting each other up is a core tenant of Mad Props and we will always ensure our platform enables that. Of course, we leave some space for the subtle digs between certain manufacturers or enthusiasts, but in the end we are all a part of one community.

### Personal

* Still settling into our new home. We moved last year in our home we decided to build coming right out of the pandemic in 2022. It was a whirl wind of an experience, but we are finally here and settling in. I was fortunate enough to have a little office space built out for me to continue working from home and being around the family after school and generally available to them.

* I'm back using my Apple Watch as my daily driver to help me stay on top of my fitness/health goals. I've leaned pretty heavy into the Apple ecosystem using the Health App as my main companion to keep track up my measurements etc, and using the Apple Journal App to log those workouts and make not of them. It's been a nice daily check off. Feeling good. I don't love having to rely so heavily on these apps/devices, but I'm practicing being okay with it and viewing it as tools that assist me rather than a detractor. To each their own. This is me.

* Journaling more. This is good for me. I use Apple Notes, Apple Journal, and MD Paper interchangeably.

* Giving [AG1](https://fbuy.io/ag/sbittle8) another go. I've always taken my health pretty seriously. At least it's always something that has taken up a substantial amount of storage in my head cave. I've explored a variety of simple supplements to assist in this, but came away desiring something even more simple. AG1 seems to check those boxes.

* **LOTS** of health goals. ha. I've been a consistent runner for 6 or so years and never gave much thought to other activities such as general strength training. This year that has changed quite a bit. I'm not old... but turning 33 this year and I can feel my body crave some more structure and muscle to keep me up and going, so making an effort to pivot a bit.

* Giving more time to God. The world is full of "Me Me ME!" "I I I!" I'm trying to channel my inner spirituality and connection to God. Thankful.

* Listening to a lot of Lo-fi/Downtemp music. [Recent favorite](https://music.apple.com/us/album/prelude/1355279194?i=1355279195)

* Finally, and most importantly, being a full-time dad. Navigating this has been the biggest challenge of my life. As my kids are growing into and out of elementary ages, I want to be that support and stretched out hand for them.

### Creatively

* I'm working full-time as Lead Product Designer at a really young startup named [ClassRanked](https://classranked.com) where we are aiming to innovate in the assessment and evaluation space for higher education. I've been there since 08/23, really enjoying this stage and leaning into the opportunities to grow in understanding of how the business works, and growing culture of design at the start.

* It has been on my short list to download and open up [Play](https://createwithplay.com). It has been a while since I designed an app from a rough idea on my own. I've been inspired to check this out a bit more. *Step one complete: Downloaded*.

* Taking more intentional pictures. I have a couple of cameras I have used over he years, yet I have defaulted to using my iPhone as my go to for majority. It has been so good for several years now, and I want to practice harnessing its powers this year. The most pocketable, easy to use camera we all have with us. No more quick snapshots. RAW format and intentional.

* Searching for a local spot to learn about ceramics and pottery. I've subtly collected little pieces over the years, and was gratefully gifted an amazing piece from read.cv very own, [Mehdi Mulani](https://posts.cv/mehdi). Thank you! Inspired.

* Diving into the fantasy epic that is Tolkien/Middle Earth. I am going to take my time this round. I listened to the Andy Serkis narration audiobooks last year. Such an amazing listen and journey. I am listen in tandem while I read the physical books this year.

## What I am *not* doing

* Saying yes to everything.

* Finishing a book, movie, show that is not interesting. In short... not wasting my time on things I don't want to be doing.

* Ignoring my intuition.

* Taking anything too serious. Life is too short. Trials will come, and so will the good.
